Community Mural Project!

Updated: Sep 10, 2018

During the month of September LUSO Community Services had the opportunity to partner with Beacock Library to host a Community Mural Project! This event gave community residents a space to get in touch with their creative side in designing a mural that will later be displayed in the Children's Section of Beacock Library. The mural design itself was based on the children's book Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert.

This collaborative approach allowed LUSO Community Services staff to work alongside a group of Western Law student volunteers to offer Northeast residents a fun space to get involved in this art project. Together as the day progressed, we saw a diverse group of people eager to help and give back to their local library. From youth, to seniors- this event became an intergenerational art day that was full of smiles, laughter, and talent!

With such positive feedback from those involved, we are so very excited to display the completed community mural in the coming weeks! LUSO is beginning to explore the interest of art in Northeast London and the potential of running a consistent opportunity for residents of all ages to be engaged in!
