During the month of August, our team of staff and volunteers decided to take on the project of giving our Community Portable a mini-makeover! This space has become a safe place for many children, youth, and families in residing in Northeast London, and we felt it was time to give the portable some extra love to kick of the 2018/2019 school year!
This portable is a place where families can access a variety of basic needs supports such as; clothing, food, baby food, diapers, etc. It is also a spot where families can meet with our Basic Needs & Community Support Program Coordinator, where she provides support, information, and relevant referrals. Although this portable does operate year round for these services, it is also the location in which we facilitate our Summer Books & Breakfast program for families residing in the neighbourhood! This program operates during July & August, where approximately 60-75 children per day have access a healthy breakfast and a variety of literacy activities Monday through Friday. With the support of our community partnerships, as well as our dedicated volunteers, this program has been an amazing success that we are so proud to have available for our clients!
We were thrilled with the results of our project, and hope that this space continues to be a safe and comfortable place for families to access support and services for years to come!
